Quality Manager
Location: Irlam/Eccles (Manchester), UK

As we continue our growth across the UK, we are now looking to appoint a dedicated Quality Manager to take ownership of our Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental (QHSE) functions across three UK sites.
This is a newly created, standalone role with responsibility to shape, lead, and grow the QHSE function as the business expands. Job Summary:
Reporting into the QHSE & Sustainability Lead, the Quality Manager will oversee the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Quality and HSE systems across three UK locations. Working closely with site leadership and operational teams, you’ll lead audits, maintain certifications, and embed a proactive, best-in-class QHSE culture that supports safe, compliant, and efficient operations.
This is a full-time, predominantly on-site position (with hybrid flexibility), requiring travel across all UK sites and occasional supplier visits.
Key Responsibilities:
Quality Management
Lead and maintain compliance with ISO 9001, customer, and regulatory requirements
Monitor Quality KPIs and drive improvements through RCA, CAPAs, and NCR management
Coordinate and lead internal and external audits (ISO, customer, regulatory)
Own documentation control, inspection/test procedures, and quality training
Embed quality mindset across operations using APQP, 8D, and Lean toolsHealth & Safety
Support compliance with ISO 45001 and UK HSE legislation (RIDDOR, PUWER, COSHH, etc.)
Conduct and oversee risk assessments, safety audits, and accident investigations
Promote safety awareness via toolbox talks, training, and SSOW implementationEnvironmental Management
Support ISO 14001 initiatives and compliance with environmental regulations
Monitor environmental KPIs (waste, energy use, emissions) and lead reduction initiatives
Manage environmental incident response and reportingLeadership & Collaboration
Collaborate with engineering, operations, and supply chain to align standards and practices
Lead and develop a small team of inspectors and QHSE representatives as the function grows
Serve as the primary contact for all QHSE matters within the UK footprintKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong background in quality within a manufacturing or engineering environment
Proven leadership in QHSE, with experience across multi-site or matrix organisations
Skilled in quality tools such as 8D, FMEA, Lean, APQP
Excellent working knowledge of ISO 9001 (essential), with exposure to ISO 45001 and 14001
Confident communicator with the ability to influence at all levels
Strong analytical mindset with ability to turn data into actionable improvement
Advanced Office 365 and ERP systems user; Power BI and process mapping skills desirable
Familiarity with ASME, PED, and other industry-specific standards is advantageousEducation and Experience:
HND or Degree in Engineering, Quality, or related discipline
Minimum 5 years' experience in a quality-focused manufacturing role
NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent is desirable (but not essential)
IRCA-certified ISO 9001 Lead/Internal Auditor (with ISO 45001 and 14001 audit experience a plus)
Experience leading successful QHSE or QMS improvements and cultural changeSalary & Benefits:
Competitive salary: £50,000 – £60,000 (depending on experience)
Annual performance bonus of 10%
40 hours per week, Monday to Friday (early finish Fridays)
Hybrid working considered; role involves approx. 20% travel
