Job Description

Quantity Surveyor / Estimator – Civil & Water Infrastructure 💰 £60,000 – £80,000 + Benefits We are a specialist design and build contractor delivering reinforced concrete liquid storage tanks and civil engineering structures, primarily within the UK municipal water sector. Due to continued growth, we are looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor / Estimator to join our team in Thurnscoe. This is a key commercial role, combining both estimating and quantity surveying responsibilities, with involvement in client engagement and project planning. The Role You will be responsible for the commercial and pre-construction aspects of our projects, including estimating reinforced concrete structures, preparing project programmes, and supporting delivery teams with cost management. Key Responsibilities Quantity Surveying Preparation of payment applications Cost reporting and financial forecasting Cost/value reconciliations Management of subcontractor accounts Estimating Estimating for RC structures, tank bases, and associated civil works Projects within clean water, wastewater, and gas infrastructure Carrying out detailed take-offs (SMM7) First principles estimating and cost planning Use of TAS modelling and commercial software Project Planning & Client Interaction Producing Gantt charts and project programmes (MS Project) Attending external meetings with clients and stakeholders Supporting project teams with commercial insight Requirements Proven experience in a Quantity Surveyor and/or Estimator role within civil engineering Experience with reinforced concrete (RC) structures and infrastructure projects Strong understanding of cost control, reporting, and subcontract management Ability to carry out detailed take-offs and first-principles estimating Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Project Strong communication skills and commercial awareness Desirable (not essential): Experience in the UK water sector (clean or wastewater) Familiarity with NEC contracts Knowledge of gas infrastructure projects Software & Technical Experience TAS Modelling and commercial estimating software AutoCAD GIS Mapping Systems Lighting Reality / Key Lights / Key Signs / Auto Sign (advantageous) Training & Development (Desirable Background) NEC Training MS Project (Level 1 or equivalent) Commercial Awareness / Delay & Disruption CSCS, Health & Safety, First Aid Environmental or sustainability training Civil Engineering contract knowledge What We Offer Competitive salary (£60k–£80k depending on experience) Stable, growing business within a specialist sector Opportunity to work on technically interesting infrastructure projects Supportive team environment with long-term career prospects
