Job Description
The Client:
A well-established and respected main contractor, this business delivers a variety of high-quality construction and refurbishment projects across commercial, residential, and public sectors, typically valued up to £3m. With a strong reputation for reliability, attention to detail, and client satisfaction, the company continues to grow steadily through repeat business and successful project delivery. They are now seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join their team based in Bury St Edmunds.
The Role:
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in managing project finances and ensuring successful commercial outcomes from tender through to final account. Working closely with project managers and site teams, you will oversee cost control, valuations, and procurement, ensuring projects are delivered within budget and to company standards. This is an excellent opportunity to join a stable and growing contractor that values quality, professionalism, and long-term development.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare and manage project budgets, cost plans, and cash flow forecasts.
• Oversee procurement, tendering, and subcontractor management processes.
• Carry out valuations, variations, and final account negotiations.
• Provide accurate cost reporting and support effective project decision-making.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, and internal teams to ensure commercial success.
Qualifications & Experience:
• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within a main contracting environment.
• Strong commercial acumen and understanding of construction contracts.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and organisational skills.
• Attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Based within a commutable distance of Bury St Edmunds.
Salary & Package:
• Up to £55,000, dependent on experience.
• Company vehicle or car allowance.
