Location: Southampton Project Duration: 12 months Sector: Major Refurbishment / Residential Fit Out / Demolition & Remediation About the Opportunity Our client is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to support a major 12-month project in Southampton. The work will involve a combination of major refurbishment, multi-rise residential fit out, multi-rise demolition and remediation, and general residential refurbishment. This is a great opportunity for a QS with strong commercial skills and experience in complex, multi-phase residential construction environments. About Our Client Our client is a specialist principal contractor and designer delivering high-quality external wall and façade solutions for large-scale residential and commercial schemes throughout the UK. Their expertise covers: * SFS (Steel Framing Systems) * Rainscreen cladding * Curtain walling * Architectural metalwork * Rendering and external envelope packages They are recognised for their high standards, technical capability, and consistent delivery on complex projects, particularly those linked to building safety and recladding initiatives for tier-one housing associations. Core Services Provided by Our Client * SFS and rainscreen cladding installation * Curtain walling, window & door packages * Bespoke architectural metalwork * Rendering and external envelope solutions With over 15 years of sector experience, our client offers both installation-only and full turnkey design and install packages, supporting a wide range of residential, commercial, and infrastructure clients. Role Responsibilities As the Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for: * Managing the commercial function across refurbishment, fit out, and demolition phases * Preparing and managing cost plans, valuations, variations, and final accounts * Liaising with subcontractors and internal teams * Supporting procurement of materials and specialist trade packages * Ensuring cost efficiency and compliance with project financial targets * Contributing to forecasting, reporting, and project risk management Requirements * Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor on residential or refurbishment projects * Strong knowledge of external envelope, fit out, or recladding (advantageous but not essential) * Ability to manage commercial responsibilities across multi-phase schemes * Strong communication and stakeholder management skills * Available for a long-term contract in Southampton * Open to freelance or PAYE engagement
