We are working with one of the UK's leading Tier 1 civil engineering contractors, recognised for delivering large-scale, complex projects in the heavy civil engineering sector. This award-winning company is renowned for its work across maritime, flood risk management, energy, water, defence, and regeneration projects. With a reputation for excellence, they are now looking to expand their team with a driven Quantity Surveyor to join their growing team based in Helensburgh, Scotland.
About the Role:
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be supporting a team on major civil engineering projects, focusing on the commercial and financial aspects of these large, complex infrastructure developments. The role offers significant exposure to the full lifecycle of project delivery, from procurement to subcontractor management, and provides the ideal opportunity for career growth within a prestigious Tier 1 contractor.
Key Responsibilities:
Procurement Support: Assist in the procurement of subcontractors and materials, ensuring compliance with the company's policies and project specifications.
Subcontractor Management: Assist in managing subcontractor agreements, payments, and performance reviews.
Commercial Reporting: Support the preparation of monthly commercial reports, including profit and loss forecasts, and track project costs to ensure profitability.
Tender & Pre-Construction Support: Review tender documents, assist in the tendering process, and ensure all project costings and allowances are correctly estimated.
Cost Control & Measurement: Assist in the accurate measurement of works, track costs, and identify any risks or issues that could effect the project financially.
About You:
To be considered for this role, we are looking for candidates with the following:
Essential Qualifications:
You are currently enrolled in or have completed an accredited Quantity Surveying course (e.g. RICS, CIOB, or ICES) or a relevant degree in Civil Engineering, Construction, or Quantity Surveying.
A passion for pursuing a career in Quantity Surveying within the civil engineering sector.
Desirable:
Previous experience (either through internships, university projects, or roles) in civil engineering or construction would be advantageous.
Ideally, you will have a solid understanding of contract management, procurement, and subcontractor agreements.
Other Requirements:
UK nationality required due to the need for security clearance.
