Job Description

Do you have proven experience managing commercial aspects of large-scale civil engineering projects under NEC contracts? Are you qualified in Quantity Surveying (Degree or HNC/HND) and able to demonstrate strong cost control and reporting skills? The Opportunity Are you looking to play a pivotal role in one of the UK’s most complex and nationally significant infrastructure projects? Due to continued growth on a £600mn civil engineering programme, we are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial team. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a leading Tier 1 contractor, ensuring financial control and contractual compliance on a project that shapes the future of the UK’s energy and environmental commitments. Your duties and responsibilities will be: Manage all aspects of cost control, forecasting, and reporting for allocated work packages. Prepare and submit valuations, variations, and final accounts in line with NEC contract requirements. Monitor subcontractor performance and ensure timely payment applications. Provide accurate commercial advice to the project team and support risk management processes. Liaise with client representatives and maintain strong working relationships. Ensure compliance with company and project financial governance procedures. You will have the following qualifications & experience: Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline. Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor on large-scale civil infrastructure projects. Strong understanding of NEC contracts and commercial management principles. Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills. It’s great if you also have the following Experience working in a nuclear or highly regulated environment. Familiarity with cost management software and digital reporting tools. Membership of a professional body (e.g., RICS). The setting for the role Based in Cumbria, you will be part of a collaborative commercial team delivering a major infrastructure programme within one of the UK’s most secure and safety-critical environments.
