Quantity Surveyor – Fixed Term Contract (Immediate Start)

Central Birmingham | £300–£400 per day
£19m Commercial Scheme | Site-Based Role

Overview

A reputable regional contractor is seeking a site-based Quantity Surveyor to join an established project team delivering a £19m commercial scheme in central Birmingham. This is a fixed-term contract with an immediate start, working alongside an experienced site team and supported by a visiting Managing Quantity Surveyor.

This is an excellent opportunity for a confident and hands-on QS who can take ownership of site-level commercial duties and ensure smooth delivery on a fast-moving project.

The Role

As the site-based Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the day-to-day commercial management of the project, acting as a key commercial link between site operations and the wider commercial leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  * Manage site-level commercial activities for a £19m scheme

  * Handle procurement, valuations, variations and cost reporting

  * Work closely with the Site Manager, Project Manager and supply chain

  * Maintain contract compliance and accurate change management

  * Support monthly CVRs and commercial forecasting

  * Ensure subcontractor accounts are managed efficiently and in line with contract terms

  * Report regularly to the visiting Managing Quantity Surveyor

  * Contribute to the delivery of the project within budget and commercial targets

Project Profile

This position is based on a £19m commercial project involving:

  * Structural and internal refurbishment elements

  * New-build components within a constrained city-centre environment

  * Complex interfaces with existing structures and services

  * A well-established, experienced site team already in place

The contractor is known for delivering high-quality commercial and refurbishment schemes across the Midlands and wider region.

About You

You will ideally have:

  * Strong experience as a Quantity Surveyor on commercial, refurbishment or mixed-use schemes

  * Background with a Tier 1, Tier 2 or established regional contractor

  * Confidence working independently on site with remote commercial oversight

  * Competence in managing procurement, variations, valuations and monthly reporting

  * A proactive, organised and commercially focused approach

  * Ability to start at short notice

Contract & Day Rate

  * Day Rate: £300–£400 per day (depending on experience)

  * Contract Type: Fixed Term Contract

  * Start Date: Immediate

  * Location: Central Birmingham (site-based)
