Job Description

Quantity Surveyor - Suffolk / Hertfordshire

We are recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor to join a growing contractor delivering specialist civil engineering and infrastructure packages on a major UK project.

This role will provide commercial and contractual support across a live project environment, working closely with operational teams to ensure strong cost control, accurate forecasting, effective change management and clear commercial visibility throughout delivery.

The position is based primarily from an office in Hertfordshire, with regular travel to a major project site in Suffolk. A minimum of two days per week on site is expected, with additional travel as required depending on project demands.

The business is looking for someone with Quantity Surveying experience gained within construction, civil engineering, infrastructure, M&E, temporary works or specialist subcontracting. Good working knowledge of NEC contracts is important, along with the ability to operate in a structured, compliance-led project environment.

Key responsibilities:

  * Commercial and contractual support across live project packages

  * Support administration of contracts under NEC3 and NEC4

  * Preparation of contractual notices, early warnings and programme-related commercial information

  * Assist with compensation events, variations and change management

  * Maintain accurate commercial records, forecasts and reporting

  * Prepare valuations, applications for payment and support final accounts

  * Track project costs, risks and opportunities across live works

  * Attend site regularly to measure progress and verify completed works

  * Support Project Managers and operational teams on the commercial impact of delivery decisions

  * Build strong working relationships with clients, contractors and internal stakeholders

Suitable candidates will have:

  * Experience in a Quantity Surveyor role within construction, civil engineering, infrastructure, M&E, temporary works or specialist subcontracting

  * Good knowledge of NEC3 and NEC4 contracts, with wider contract awareness beneficial

  * Experience supporting change management, valuations, forecasting and cost control

  * Strong commercial awareness and analytical ability

  * Good communication and reporting skills

  * Ability to build effective working relationships with project teams and stakeholders

  * Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel routinely to site

  * Desirable experience:

  * Experience working on major infrastructure, energy or highly regulated projects

  * Exposure to specialist subcontract packages or technically complex site delivery environments

  * Progress toward RICS, ICES or similar professional status

  * £40,000-£45,000 basic salary
