We are recruiting for an Intermediate Quantity Surveyor to join an established specialist contractor delivering commercial kitchen and foodservice projects across the UK.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor who has gained a few years' commercial experience and is looking to take the next step in their career with a successful specialist business.
The company provides a complete project solution encompassing commercial kitchen design, equipment supply, project management, installation and aftercare, working across sectors including hospitality, healthcare, education, leisure, defence and commercial construction.
Projects are delivered for both end-user clients and alongside leading UK main contractors, giving the successful candidate exposure to a varied portfolio of technically interesting schemes.
The Role
Working as part of the commercial and project delivery team, you will be responsible for the commercial management of projects from initial handover through procurement, installation and final account.
This is a varied role that will involve working closely with Project Managers, designers, suppliers, manufacturers, subcontractors and clients to ensure projects are delivered successfully from both a commercial and contractual perspective.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Commercial management of multiple projects
* Reviewing contracts, scopes and project documentation
* Preparing budgets, cost plans and project forecasts
* Procurement of subcontractors, equipment and associated packages
* Preparing and issuing subcontract orders
* Managing variations and change control
* Applications for payment and valuations
* Cost reporting and monitoring project profitability
* Subcontractor valuations and payments
* Identifying and managing commercial risks
* Supporting Project Managers throughout project delivery
* Liaising with clients and main contractors on commercial matters
* Attending project and commercial meetings
* Managing final accounts
* Ensuring accurate commercial records are maintained throughout each project
About You
We are ideally looking for an Intermediate Quantity Surveyor who has already developed a good grounding in construction commercial management but is still keen to develop.
You could currently be working for a main contractor, specialist subcontractor, M&E contractor, fit-out contractor or another construction-related business. Previous commercial catering or foodservice experience would be advantageous but isn't essential.
You should ideally have:
* Previous experience working as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor or Quantity Surveyor
* A construction-related degree/HNC/HND or equivalent experience
* Good understanding of construction contracts and commercial processes
* Experience with valuations, variations and final accounts
* Procurement and subcontractor management experience
* Strong numerical and analytical skills
* Good communication and negotiation ability
* Commercial awareness and attention to detail
* The confidence to communicate with clients, contractors and suppliers
* A proactive attitude and willingness to take ownership of your projects
