Quantity Surveyor – The Company

The business works extensively across the education and commercial sectors, delivering projects ranging from smaller £200k refurbishment schemes through to larger, more complex contracts valued at circa £5m.

Quantity Surveyor – The Role
An excellent opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team and take responsibility for the commercial management of refurbishment projects across Bristol and the surrounding area.
Projects are varied in size and complexity, typically ranging from £200k to £5m, with a particular focus on education and commercial refurbishment.
You will manage projects commercially from pre-construction/procurement through to final account, working closely with site teams, Contracts Managers and clients to ensure projects are delivered successfully and profitably.
Typical responsibilities will include:
* Commercial management of refurbishment projects from procurement through to final account
* Subcontractor procurement, negotiation and appointment
* Preparation and management of project budgets and cost plans
* Valuations, variations and change management
* Cost reporting and forecasting
* Subcontractor valuations and payments
* Contract administration and commercial risk management
* Working closely with operational teams throughout project delivery
* Maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants and subcontractors
* Final account preparation and agreement
Quantity Surveyor – The Person
You will have solid Quantity Surveying experience gained within a main contractor or refurbishment contractor environment.
Experience delivering refurbishment projects would be particularly beneficial, ideally across education, commercial or similar occupied/live environments.
You will ideally have:
* Previous Quantity Surveying experience with a main contractor
* Strong refurbishment/project experience
* Experience commercially managing your own projects
* Good subcontract procurement and cost management skills
* Sound contractual and commercial knowledge
* Strong communication and negotiation skills
* HNC/HND or Degree in Quantity Surveying or a construction-related discipline preferred
* Ability to commute to Bristol and projects across the surrounding region
