Job Description

Quantity Surveyor – Infrastructure & Utilities Consultancy - Preston – Up to £65000 
 
 Summary 
 We are seeking a skilled Quantity Surveyor to join a dynamic infrastructure and utilities consultancy. The role involves managing the commercial and financial aspects of projects, ensuring profitability and compliance with contractual obligations. The successful candidate will work closely with project managers and teams to develop and implement commercial strategies, manage cashflow, and mitigate commercial risks. 
 
 Responsibilities include preparing accurate cost forecasts, maintaining contract cost reporting systems, and liaising with clients and third parties on commercial matters. The role also involves supporting procurement activities, including subcontract documentation and negotiations, and ensuring subcontractor accounts are managed in line with contract terms. 
 
 Experience with Power BI and the ability to create relational data models will be advantageous. A sound understanding of construction and contract law is required, alongside excellent report writing skills. 
 
 Skills 
 • Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent 
 • Experience as a Cost Engineer or Quantity Surveyor 
 • Proficient in Power BI and data modelling (relational tables) 
 • Strong commercial and financial analysis skills 
 • Knowledge of construction and contract law 
 • Contract cost reporting and forecasting 
 • Cashflow and commercial risk management 
 • Aspiring to or holding MRICS / Associate Professional (AP) status
