Job Description

We are partnering with a leading UK main contractor to recruit a Quantity Surveyor for a prestigious high-rise residential development located in central Leeds. This £45 million scheme comprises 200 apartments across 10 storeys and represents a significant investment in the regeneration of the area. This project requires an experienced Quantity Surveyor with the commercial capability to manage complex packages and interface with senior stakeholders. The successful candidate will have a strong track record delivering high-value new build projects - ideally in high-rise residential or large-scale commercial sectors - and will have previously worked for a Tier 1 contractor or a well-established large Tier 2 contractor. Role Overview: You will be site-based in Leeds, reporting directly to the Commercial Manager, and working alongside the Project Director, Project Managers, and the client's commercial and delivery teams. You will manage subcontractor procurement and packages, provide accurate forecasting and reporting, and ensure contractual and financial governance is maintained throughout the life cycle of the project. This is a hands-on role requiring excellent commercial awareness, communication skills, and a proactive, solutions-led approach. Key Responsibilities: Take commercial responsibility for allocated packages on a £45M high-rise development Procurement and contract administration of subcontractors and suppliers Prepare and present detailed cost reports and financial forecasts Administer variations, valuations, payment notices, and final accounts Liaise with client QS teams and internal stakeholders on progress and cost matters Ensure adherence to contract terms and protect the company's commercial interests Identify and mitigate risk, ensuring compliance with financial procedures and controls Support junior commercial staff where appropriate and contribute to a positive team cultureCandidate Requirements: Minimum 5 years' experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the UK construction sector Experience delivering £30M+ high-rise or large-scale commercial new build projects Previous employment with a Tier 1 main contractor or major Tier 2 contractor (essential) Excellent numeracy, negotiation, and written communication skills Confident working autonomously and liaising directly with project leadership and the client Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying Based in or able to commute to Leeds, with flexibility for meetings and site attendance What's In It For You: Long-term opportunity with a financially stable, growing contractor Professional development and internal progression routes Collaborative working environment with highly experienced teams Competitive salary, car allowance or company vehicle, pension, healthcare, and bonusHow to Apply: If you're a Quantity Surveyor looking for a long-term project that will shape your CV and your career, we'd love to hear from you
