Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor – Havering, Essex
£70,000 + Car Allowance
Permanent Role | Specialist Construction Contractor
Hill McGlynn is proud to be working with a well-established construction company based in Havering, currently seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their growing commercial team.
Operating across multiple sectors—including facades and cladding, refurbishment, and property services—this contractor has built a strong reputation for delivering technically complex projects to the highest standard. The ideal candidate will bring solid commercial experience and, ideally, working knowledge of COINS software.
The Role:
As a Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in the commercial management of projects across a diverse portfolio. You’ll be responsible for overseeing cost planning, subcontractor management, and financial reporting—ensuring projects are delivered profitably, on time, and within scope.
Key Responsibilities:
* Commercial management of cladding, façade, refurbishment, and maintenance works
* Preparing cost plans, budgets, and tender documentation
* Subcontractor procurement, negotiation, and contract administration
* Managing valuations, variations, and final accounts
* Cost reporting and financial forecasting to senior management
* Ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and company processes
* Using COINS software for cost tracking and commercial reporting (preferred)
Ideal Candidate Profile:
* Experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior QS within the construction, facades, refurbishment, or property services sectors
* Strong understanding of JCT contracts and commercial best practices
* Familiarity with COINS software is a distinct advantage
* Excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical skills
* Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively with operational teams
* Degree-qualified or holding a relevant professional qualification in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management
