ROLE SUMMARY
The Quantity Surveyor will act as the commercial lead, working closely with the operational team to manage the full range of pre- and post-contract services, ensuring commercial success and profitability. This role will require travel.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Prepare take-offs for tendering purposes and assist with tender preparation.
* Appoint subcontractors and labour-only subcontractors on agreed terms.
* Manage material procurement processes.
* Oversee measures and report on variances.
* Prepare and settle interim claims.
* Produce supporting documentation for clients and consultants.
* Compile bills of quantities.
* Identify, measure, and agree variations.
* Conduct cost investigations.
* Provide weekly financial reports to clients and client QS.
* Complete monthly cost/value reconciliations.
* Monitor cash collection.
* Manage multiple projects simultaneously at various stages.
* Provide accurate cost/valuation data to the accounts department in line with deadlines.
* Advise management on contractual matters.
* Measure and agree final accounts for projects.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date records.
* Undertake any other reasonable duties as required.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential:
* Proven experience in a similar role within the construction/joinery/fit-out sector.
* Strong background in fast-paced environments.
* Excellent IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Office and Excel.
* Effective communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to build strong relationships.
* Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
* Experience managing contractual issues on standard forms of contract (e.g., JCT).
* In-depth knowledge of contract documents, construction practices, and techniques.
* Full driving licence and access to a vehicle.
Desirable:
* Third-level qualification in Quantity Surveying or related discipline.
* Experience in PQQ, bid, and tender submissions.
* Experience of e-tendering.
Additional Information:
Project values range from £100k to over £40m, with the majority around £10m+. Most of our work involves high-quality hotel fit-outs, which can include extensions, new builds, cut-and-carve schemes, and refurbishments. Works often cover front-of-house areas, back-of-house facilities, spas, bedrooms, and more
