The Opportunity
A Tier 1 main contractor delivering a high-profile £150m new build project in Norwich is looking to appoint an experienced Project Quantity Surveyor (PQS) to join their commercial team.
This flagship scheme is a complex, multi-zone build within the critical infrastructure sector, requiring a commercially astute surveyor to take ownership of key packages, manage costs effectively, and drive value throughout the project lifecycle.
Working closely with the Commercial Manager and operational teams, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the project is delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Manage cost control from procurement through to final account for designated work packages
Lead subcontractor procurement, tendering, and negotiation processes
Prepare and present monthly cost reports and cashflow forecasts
Provide accurate cost advice and risk analysis to senior management and stakeholders
Assess and manage variations, claims, and change control processes
Work collaboratively with site teams to monitor progress and forecast costs
Ensure compliance with contractual and legal obligations
Maintain accurate records including CVRs, procurement schedules, and subcontractor documentation
Support junior QS team members through mentoring and knowledge sharing
Ideal Candidate
Experienced Project Quantity Surveyor with a proven track record on major construction projects (£20m+)
Strong knowledge of JCT or NEC contracts (NEC preferred)
Excellent commercial acumen and negotiation skills
Ability to work independently while supporting wider commercial and operational teams
Background in complex builds such as critical infrastructure, healthcare, or large-scale commercial projects
Qualifications:
Degree or HNC/D in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management (essential)
CSCS Card (Black or White)
Membership of RICS or working towards chartership (desirable)What's On Offer
