R&D Technician

Location: Commutable from Galway, Tuam, Athenry, Loughrea, Ballinasloe
 Salary: €40,000 + Benefits

Are you a hands-on R&D Technician who enjoys building, testing and improving real-world products? Looking for a role where you can work closely with engineers and see your work used in the field?

Here is an opportunity to join an established, Irish-owned engineering company operating within the agricultural technology sector. With continued investment in R&D and a strong focus on innovation and quality, the business designs and manufactures high-performance products used across international markets. Due to continued growth, they are now expanding their R&D team.

The Role

This is a practical, field-focused R&D position offering exposure across the full product development lifecycle. You will play a key role in building, modifying and validating prototype systems, ensuring both hardware and embedded software perform reliably in laboratory and on-farm environments.

Key responsibilities include:

Building, modifying and testing prototypes
Functional, environmental and durability testing
Validating embedded systems and GUI functionality
Testing software and hardware integration
Documenting product performance
Supporting end-of-line production test equipment setup and validation
Diagnosing, debugging and conducting root cause analysisThis role offers a strong mix of workshop-based technical work and on-site testing, working closely with engineers and end users to continuously improve product performance and reliability.

What They're Looking For Experience with:

In an electromechanical or similar technical environment
Assembly and modification
Basic understanding of embedded software
sensors and measurement instruments for data collectionThis is a strong opportunity for a technician who enjoys practical engineering challenges, hands-on problem solving and working within a fast-paced, innovation-led environment.
