Job Description

Role: R&D Technician
Location: Lowestoft, Suffolk
Join our client's engineering team as an R&D Technician, supporting prototype builds, refrigeration testing, and early‑stage product development. This hands‑on role is perfect for someone who enjoys building, problem‑solving, and working closely with engineers to bring new products to life.
What You’ll Do
  * Build and modify prototype units and test rigs
  * Set up and run refrigeration and climatic chamber tests
  * Install sensors and instrumentation; capture and analyse test data
  * Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration issues
  * Support supplier visits and component evaluations
  * Produce clear reports and contribute to structured development processes
What You’ll Bring
  * Practical experience with tools, assembly, or prototyping
  * Understanding of refrigeration systems (ideal)
  * Ability to read 2D engineering drawings
  * Methodical, organised approach with strong attention to detail
  * Good communication and data‑recording skills
  * F‑Gas qualification and forklift licence are bonuses, not requirements
