Job Description

Our client, a prominent company in the railway sector, is seeking a Rail Asset Engineer for a long-term contract based in Manchester with site work across the North West. This role, which falls inside IR35, offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with expertise in site surveys, geotechnics, and civil earthworks. Key Responsibilities: Supporting the Geotechnical Examination Team in planning and completing earthwork examinations, including organising access opportunities, possessions, and worksites. Providing critical information to aid in the selection of preferred access types. Conducting thorough and safe on-site earthwork examinations, adhering to safe systems of work procedures, method statements, and relevant standards. Accurately reporting all completed and incomplete work, maintaining records as required. Ensuring strict adherence to company policies and procedures. Job Requirements: COSS / IWA Competency to operate on the Operational Railway. Level 3 Competency in Network Rail's 'Soil Slope Examinations' (GEO-I-S) and Rock 'Slope Examinations' (GEO-I-R). Experience with JBA Database and GizMapp tool. Proficiency in producing high-quality exams to CIV/065 standard. Knowledge of relevant railway geography and network capability. Understanding of railway 'Safe Systems of Work', including Separated Working, Possessions, Line Blocks, and Blockades. Ability to prioritise and organise workload effectively to meet deadlines. Strong organisational skills and a meticulous attention to detail. Excellent communication skills with a customer-focused approach. Competence in IT and operating systems. Valid driving licence. First Aid Certificate. Desirable: Knowledge of relevant planning systems. Experience as a 'Responsible Manager' with endorsement of Safe Work Packs.
