Reach Stacker Operator
Location: Immingham
Salary: £15.07 per hour
About the Role
We're looking for an experienced and safety-conscious Reach Stacker Operator to join our busy port operations team. You'll be responsible for the safe and efficient movement of containers within the terminal, supporting vessel discharge/loading and inland haulage operations.
Key Responsibilities
Operate reach stackers to lift, move, and stack shipping containers safely and efficiently.
Load and unload containers from trucks, rail wagons, and storage stacks.
Support vessel operations by positioning containers for loading/discharge in line with operational plans.
Carry out pre-start and daily safety checks on equipment and report any defects or issues promptly.
Follow terminal procedures, yard plans, and instructions from the operations team to maintain flow and minimize delays.
Ensure containers are handled without damage and in accordance with safety and weight regulations.
Accurately record container movements using terminal operating systems (TOS) or handheld devices.
Work closely with other operators, signalers, and ground staff to maintain safe working distances and clear communication.
Comply with all health, safety, security, and environmental regulations at all times.
Support general yard duties as required to ensure efficient port operations.
Skills & Qualifications
Proven experience operating a reach stacker in a port, container terminal, rail freight, or similar environment.
Valid Reach Stacker licence / competency certification (essential).
Knowledge of port or terminal operating procedures and container handling practices.
Strong focus on safety, situational awareness, and adherence to protocols.
Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions clearly.
Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
