About the Role:
We are currently seeking a friendly, professional, and highly organised Receptionist to support the daily operations of a vibrant educational setting in Luton. This is a front-of-house position requiring excellent communication skills, a proactive attitude, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
You will play a vital role as the first point of contact for visitors, parents, staff, and students. In addition to standard reception duties, this role involves working closely with children and supporting the wider admin team.
Key Responsibilities:
Front Desk & Communication:
Greet and welcome all visitors, parents, and pupils in a warm and professional manner
Answer incoming phone calls, direct them to the appropriate contacts, and take accurate messages
Handle enquiries efficiently via telephone, email, and face-to-face interactions
Monitor and manage the school's general inbox and reception mailboxStudent & Welfare Support:
Record and log student illnesses, absences, and medical appointments on the school system
Escort children to and from classrooms as required, ensuring their safety and wellbeing
Communicate with teaching staff regarding pupil movements and absencesAdministration Duties:
Carry out general administrative tasks including filing, photocopying, scanning, and data entry
Maintain accurate records in accordance with school policies and GDPR regulations
Assist with compiling reports, sending letters, and preparing documentation for school events or meetings
Support the wider office team during busy periods or when additional cover is neededCandidate Requirements:
Experience:
Previous experience in a receptionist or administrative role (school environment preferred but not essential)Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
Good IT skills, including use of Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)
Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriatelyPersonality:
Friendly, approachable, and professional
Organised and able to manage multiple tasks effectively
Calm under pressure and able to work independently as well as in a teamOther Requirements:
Must be comfortable working in a child-focused environmentA valid enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check or willingness to obtain one

Monday to Friday schedule - no evenings or weekends
