Job Description
One of my local government clients is recruiting a Recycling Advisor to support the work of the North London Waste Authority (NLWA). NLWA serves two million residents across seven boroughs, delivering waste reduction campaigns, recycling programmes and sustainability education. Their mission is to preserve resources, reduce waste, and minimise environmental impact.
This role plays a key part in increasing recycling participation and reducing contamination by working directly with residents and businesses. You will help promote correct recycling practices, support community engagement activities, and contribute to NLWA’s wider recycling and behaviour change campaigns.
Key Responsibilities:

Conduct surveys and assessments to understand recycling behaviours
*
Carry out door-to-door engagement to promote food and packaging recycling
*
Provide tailored advice to residents on waste reduction and proper recycling
*
Support community events, roadshows, and communication campaigns
*
Distribute educational materials and encourage correct recycling practices
*
Record visits, surveys, feedback, and engagement activity accurately
*
Collaborate with other teams to resolve local recycling challenges
About You:

Confident engaging with the public and delivering clear information
*
Experience in community engagement, environmental education or similar roles
*
Comfortable working outdoors and conducting door-to-door outreach
*
Strong organisational and communication skills
*
Passionate about sustainability, recycling, and behaviour change.
