Job Description

Recycling Technician
 Location: Loughborough
 Shifts: Monday - Friday 08:00 - 16:00
 Pay Rate: £13.20

Working as part of the EHS team, the role involves recycling returned bottles, cardboard and pulp following Site and Departmental procedures and BPIs. Using IT and business analysis skills you will reconcile customer transfer notes and maintain electronic records, to enable you to report metrics and identify and track customer compliance issues. The role also includes managing the collection of recycled materials and maintenance of the Waste Yard.

Responsibilities
 * Offload bottles return from Fisher Scientific vehicles, segregating returned bottles and cardboard into skips or recycling streams. Identify and separate any hazardous residues in returned bottles or packaging materials, following H&S procedures and inform the EHS Manager in line with health and safety standards
 * Reconcile bottle returns against waste transfer notes, entering details onto electronic systems. Maintain accurate documentation to ensure compliance and report non- compliance and discrepancies to line manager.
 * Manage and maintain records of stock in bottle cages and number of flat pack pallets.
 * Break down boxes and bail cardboard using cardboard bailer
 * Empty mini skips into large skips using a forklift truck
 * Manage skip collection with Fisher Scientific preferred waste vendor. Load the collecting vehicles and maintain associated paperwork.
 * Maintain an orderly working environment, working with due care and attention and in accordance with prescribed safety guidelines, adhering to the company policy, including the wearing of Personal Protective Equipment.
 * Supporting waste centre operations including listing, labelling, loading and bulking of hazardous waste

Required Skills: + years of experience
 * B1 Counterbalance Forklift license mandatory
 * Demonstrable computer skills including use of spreadsheets and use of email systems
 * Ability to readily understand written and verbal instructions in English and complete documentation.
 * Ability to work on own and make independent decisions
 * Able to work accurately with attention to detail

Preferred Skills:
 * Experience of handling and transporting hazardous material is desirable
 * Experience with waste and recycling streams

Degree/Certifications:
 * B1 Counterbalance Forklift license
