Project / Contracts Manager – Refrigeration Installations
Location: Manchester (Field-Based with Travel)
Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Salary: up to £80,000
Overview
We are working with a leading UK provider of refrigeration, HVAC, and M&E solutions, delivering high-spec engineering services to clients across the commercial, industrial, retail, and data sectors. With a presence in the North West, Glasgow, and the Midlands, this company has built a strong reputation for reliability, innovation, and quality over the past two decades.
They are now looking for an experienced Project / Contracts Manager to oversee the successful delivery of refrigeration installation projects across the UK. This is a hands-on leadership role, requiring strong site management experience, commercial awareness, and the ability to drive performance and safety across multiple live sites.
The Role
As a Project / Contracts Manager, you will take ownership of refrigeration installation projects from handover to completion. You’ll coordinate internal teams and specialist subcontractors, manage site operations, monitor progress, and ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest safety and quality standards.
The ideal candidate will bring a proactive, problem-solving mindset and a proven background in managing mechanical or refrigeration installation works, ideally within industrial or large commercial environments.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage full project lifecycle on refrigeration installation contracts
* Coordinate site activities, subcontractors, and materials in line with programme requirements
* Act as the main point of contact on-site for client representatives and internal stakeholders
* Ensure strict adherence to HSEQ policies, RAMS, and site compliance
* Oversee financial performance, variations, and reporting in collaboration with commercial team
* Monitor installation progress, attend site meetings, and maintain project documentation
* Conduct regular site inspections, issue resolution, and quality control
* Support commissioning and handover process with engineers and clients
Skills & Experience Required
* Strong background in refrigeration, mechanical, or building services installation
* Proven experience managing subcontractors and site-based delivery teams
* Good understanding of CO₂ and conventional refrigeration systems (preferred)
* Excellent knowledge of CDM regulations, health and safety procedures, and site management practices
* Strong leadership and communication skills
* Ability to interpret technical drawings, programmes, and contract documentation
* Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel/stay away as required
