Tezlom is an exciting agency to work for. We provide HEALTH and SOCIAL CARE STAFF in various parts of in and around London We are currently recruiting for a complex care refuge worker to work with victims of domestic violence, who has the real passion to help others and make a difference Position- Complex Care Refuge Worker Location-Wandworth, London Total Number o Hours/Week: 38hrs on pro-rata basis Job Type: Temporary, Ongoing With great potential to go permannet Pay rates: 13.50-14.50/hour As a complex care refuge worker You will be: * Providing advocacy and one to one support for women who have experienced domestic violence and are living in refuge accommodation. * Offering help, advice and support to any woman experiencing domestic violence, including counselling where required * Conducting needs and risk assessments and liaised extensively with other service providers to offer a complete support package to vulnerable clients * Providing emotional and therapeutic support to women in the refuge with complex needs, who are at the risk of going into Mental Health Crisis or Substance Misuse * Following all procedures for the referral and admittance of residents * Maintaining information, record keeping and monitoring systems (e.g. contact calls, refuge occupancy, licence agreements etc) in line with agreed practices and procedures * To be aware of and implement the equal opportunities policy and ensure the duties of the position are carried out in accordance with the policy * To respond to the needs of the residents and Service Users including: 1. The provision of legal, housing and welfare rights advice, and practical support. 2. Advocacy and liaison with other agencies (housing depts., solicitors, courts, social services, school’s doctors etc.) 3. Provision of information about local agencies and community resources. 4. Supporting residents to make claims for benefits. Essential Skills, Experience and Qualities: * Experience working with Domestic Abused: Understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence, its impact on individuals, and available support services. * Experience working with complex needs- Mental Health/Substance misuse/Homelessness * Empathy and Compassion: Ability to understand and respond to the emotional needs of residents. * Resilience: Ability to cope with challenging situations and maintain a positive attitude. * Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with residents, colleagues, and external agencies. * Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify and address resident needs and challenges effectively. * Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and maintain accurate records. * Advocacy Skills: Ability to represent residents' needs and advocate on their behalf. * Teamwork and Collaboration: Ability to work effectively as part of a team and collaborate with other professionals. * Cultural Sensitivity: Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and with a range of needs.
