Refuse Collection Loader
Location: DE4
Pay Rate: £12.21 per hour
Working Hours: 6:00am - 3:00pm, Monday to Friday
Induction Date: 14/04/2026 at 8:00am
We are currently recruiting Refuse Collection Loaders to join a hardworking and reliable waste and recycling team based at the Derbyshire Dales Depot. This is a physically demanding, outdoor role suited to individuals who enjoy active work and working as part of a team.
The Role
As a Refuse Collection Loader, you will play a key role in supporting daily refuse and recycling collections across the local area. Your responsibilities will include:
Carrying out daily refuse and recycling collections
Heavy lifting and manual handling throughout the shift
Walking approximately 8-10 miles per shift
Working safely with all machinery and equipment used in the collection process
Using in‑cab technology and mobile devices as directed
Completing all required paperwork accurately and in real time
Carrying out daily vehicle and machinery checks before and after use
Ensuring vehicles and machinery are kept clean and well maintained
Delivering excellent customer service, particularly when interacting with members of the public
Following safe lifting, handling, and health & safety procedures at all times
Key Skills & Requirements
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Physically fit and able to carry out heavy lifting and long periods of walking
Self‑motivated with a positive and reliable attitude
Willingness to undertake a range of manual and operational tasks
Ability to work effectively as part of a team
Awareness of health and safety practices within a manual working environment
Punctual and dependable
