Regional Account Manager / Business Development Manager Region: The Midlands (Field Based / Remote) Reports to: UK Sales Leadership Package: £45,000–£50,000 base salary (realistically mid-£40,000s, stretching to £50,000 for an outstanding candidate) + Company Car + Uncapped Commission + Benefits Company Overview: This is a global technology manufacturer at the forefront of smart security and building automation. The Opportunity: An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Regional Account Manager / Business Development Manager to cover the Midlands region. This is a key, field-based role focused on driving growth through a blend of account management and new business development. The successful candidate will build and maintain relationships with distributors, installers, and system integrators, helping to expand market share and reinforce the company’s strong reputation for quality and innovation. *We’re particularly interested in candidates from similar technical manufacturing or engineered product backgrounds, those who understand solution-based, specification-led selling into trade, contractor, or B2B technical environments*!! Suitable backgrounds could include: Building Automation or Controls (BMS, HVAC, Lighting Control): Professionals who have sold intelligent building systems, energy management solutions, or environmental controls to M&E contractors, consultants, or system integrators. Experience with technologies in building management systems (BMS), smart lighting, HVAC controls, or IoT-based automation would be highly relevant. Electrical or Electronic Manufacturing: Individuals with experience in selling electrical distribution, wiring accessories, circuit protection, or electronic components into wholesalers, contractors, or OEMs. Those who have represented manufacturers of control panels, power supplies, or industrial electrical systems would also be well suited. Industrial or Engineering Components: Candidates who have worked in technical B2B environments supplying engineered or mechanical components — such as sensors, actuators, enclosures, connectors, or automation parts — to integrators, system builders, or manufacturing end-users. A solid understanding of engineered products and solution selling is key. Networking, Cabling, or Communications Systems: Sales professionals familiar with structured cabling, IP networking, fibre, or data communication systems, selling into installers, integrators, or IT infrastructure providers. Experience with network-based technologies that support connected systems — such as CCTV, access control, or building automation — would be particularly advantageous.If you’ve successfully sold technical or engineered products through installer, integrator, or distribution channels, your background will transfer seamlessly to this role. Key Responsibilities Manage and grow relationships with distributors, installers, and system integrators. Identify and secure new business opportunities across the Midlands region. Conduct customer meetings, site visits, and product demonstrations. Deliver training and technical presentations to support customers. Report on sales performance, market activity, and competitor developments. Collaborate closely with internal teams to ensure excellent customer service. Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with company reporting standards.Person Specification Essential: Proven experience in sales/account management within technical or engineered product environments. Understanding of IP-based or networked technology solutions. Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with technical customers. Commercially aware, self-motivated, and results-driven. Comfortable managing a regional, field-based role. Full UK driving licence.Desirable: Experience selling through distribution and installer networks. Strong presentation, demonstration, and training delivery skills.
