Job Description

Regional Health, Safety & Wellbeing Manager Guildford/South-East I £75,000 to £90,000 I Permanent If you've reached the point in your Health & Safety career where you want to shape how safety is led, not simply manage compliance, this is a role worth considering. We're looking for an experienced Health, Safety & Wellbeing professional to take a senior regional position across a major highway's operation. You'll have influence across multiple contracts, projects and operational teams, working closely with senior leadership while developing the people around you and driving a genuinely proactive approach to safety and wellbeing. This is a role with visibility. You'll be trusted to challenge where necessary, influence decisions and make sure lessons learned in one part of the business improve performance elsewhere. What does the role look like? You'll lead Health, Safety & Wellbeing across the region, providing direction to operational teams and supporting senior management with the decisions that shape HSW performance. That includes strengthening governance and risk management, overseeing audits and assurance, analysing performance trends and taking the lead when significant incidents or issues arise. You'll also be responsible for developing HSW teams, building relationships with clients and regulators, and helping embed improvements across multiple contracts rather than treating safety as a box-ticking exercise. You'll probably suit this role if you Hold a NEBOSH Diploma, NVQ Level 6 or equivalent Are CMIOSH or working towards Chartered status Have senior HSW or SHEQ leadership experience across multi-site operations Know how to lead incident investigations and root cause analysis Can influence senior stakeholders, clients and operational teams Have experience developing and leading high-performing teams Understand how strong HSW decisions support wider commercial and operational performanceInfrastructure experience is particularly relevant, with the position sitting within a major highway's, Rail, Defence, and Aviation portfolio. What makes the move worthwhile? Alongside a salary of £75,000 to £90,000, the package includes: Company car and fuel card, with EV and hybrid options Private healthcare and healthcare cash plan for you and your family 28 days' annual leave plus bank holidays Matched or contributory pension Life assurance Enhanced family leave Holiday purchase scheme Employee rewards and discountsMore importantly, this is an opportunity to move beyond managing safety on an individual project and take on broader regional influence, leading people, shaping standards and improving performance across multiple operations. If you've built your career in Health & Safety and you're ready for a position where your judgement and leadership carry real weight, we'd like to hear from you
