JOB: Regional Transport Manager
LOCATION: Grimsby
STATUS: Permanent
SALARY: up to £45k plus benefits
* O License holder – CPC essential
* Proven commercial acumen
* Comprehensive knowledge of driver hours and WTD regulations
* Excellent understanding of all Transport Regulations
* Experience of managing regional transport team
* Excellent leadership skills
* IT Literal and numerate
* Food Warehousing experience preferable
Job Summary
To ensure compliance with all legislative requirements as part of the O license and Drivers working time arrangements. Must ensure an efficient and profitable business under your control that delivers agreed service levels to all internal and external customers. To develop the activities under their control to ensure continuous improvement of KPI’s as agreed with the business.
Must work within all written procedures, handbook, and Company policies and standards.
Responsibilities
1. Ensure effective and efficient use of all driver and vehicle resources.
2. Ensuring customer requirements are administered in a timely, controlled and recorded manner within the transport operation.
3. Consider the operational movements and seek opportunities to reduce empty running and improve efficiency.
4. Complete periodic reviews of the delivery schedule in line with all customers strategic changes.
5. Ensure all fleet assets are serviced and make sure they have MOT in line with requirements and all paperwork and systems updated in a timely manner.
6. Analysing data to monitor performance and plan improvements.
7. Promote effective and efficient standards of work, in order to comply with UK and EU regulations and Health & Safety legislation.
8. Uphold highest standards of Health & Safety ensuring all inductions and regular training is completed and logged.
9. Ensure the transport planning operations are in line with budgeted costs and achieve all contractual KPI’s
10. Be proactive in achieving improved fuel efficiency and better MPG.
11. Manage tacho-graph infringements to ensure full compliance.
12. Ensure all aspects of maintenance (tyre checks, servicing, MOT etc.,) is compliant to the maintenance manual and the law.
13. Complete accident reports and be able to update risk assessments, contributing to a positive safety culture.
14. Support the personal development of all staff in your department. Carry out performance reviews with your team, identifying training needs.
15. To ensure all sub-contractors are authorised and provide the most cost effective operational solution.
16. Investigate all personal and vehicle accidents in line with Company procedures.
17. Be responsible for driver recruitment, training and retention.
18. Acts in accordance with Company policies and procedures at all times.
19. Working towards individual and team targets.
20. Attend training courses or complete any issued training as required by the business.
21. Any other duties required of you by the business.
22. Adhere to Government laws and guidelines as well as company policies relating to COVID-19.
