Registered Manager – Residential Child Care
Location: Barnsley, South Yorkshire
Salary: £44,982 to £50,605 per annum (dependent on experience)
Contract: Permanent, Full Time (40 hours per week, Monday to Friday)
Bonus: 10% discretionary annual bonus plus £5,000 joining bonus (paid in three instalments)
Overview
An established two-bed children’s home in Barnsley is seeking an experienced and compassionate Registered Manager to lead the service. This is a fantastic opportunity to manage a small, stable team and provide high-quality care for young people aged 8 to 18 within a therapeutic, family-style environment.
You will be supported by an experienced senior leadership team and access to in-house therapeutic expertise to deliver consistent, nurturing care that enables young people to achieve positive outcomes.
Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage all aspects of the home’s day-to-day operations

Promote a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environment
*
Supervise, mentor, and develop care staff to maintain high standards
*
Ensure compliance with all regulatory, safeguarding, and care standards
*
Oversee care planning, quality assurance, and risk management
*
Build effective relationships with professionals, families, and external agencies
*
Maintain detailed records and demonstrate a strong focus on quality improvement

Essential Requirements
*
Level 4 Diploma in Children & Young People (England) or equivalent
*
Minimum 2 years’ experience in residential childcare (within the last 5 years)
*
Minimum 1 year’s experience in a supervisory or leadership role (within the last 5 years)
*
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
*
Excellent written and verbal communication
*
Commitment to completing Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management
*
Sound understanding of safeguarding and safer recruitment practices
*
Confident IT skills
*
Full UK driving licence
Desirable

Working towards Level 5 Diploma or equivalent
*
Experience of implementing therapeutic parenting approaches
