Registered Manager - New Children's Home EBD
The Registered Manager Role
As the Registered Manager, you will hold full operational and regulatory responsibility for the home, leading it from its pre-registration phase through to Ofsted registration and the ongoing delivery of outstanding care thereafter.
Registered Manager Key Responsibilities - Pre-Registration Phase
* Lead the Ofsted registration process in collaboration with the Responsible Individual, Director, and consultant.
* Develop the Statement of Purpose, Children’s Guide, and Policies and Procedures in line with the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards.
* Ensure the property, environment, and staffing structure meet all regulatory requirements.
* Build the operational framework for safeguarding, supervision, care planning, and quality assurance.
* Contribute to the home’s location risk assessment, fire safety, and health and safety readiness.
* Prepare for Ofsted interviews and ensure all documentation and systems demonstrate readiness for registration.
* Lead recruitment and safer recruitment checks for all staff.
Post-Ofsted Registration Phase
* Take full responsibility for the home’s day-to-day management and regulatory compliance, ensuring operations meet or exceed Ofsted and organisational standards.
* Provide strong leadership, supervision, and direction to your team to deliver consistent, high-quality, child-centred care.
* Oversee and review individual care plans, ensuring they reflect each child’s needs, goals, and progress.
* Promote and maintain a safeguarding-first culture, ensuring all staff understand and follow child protection policies.
* Drive continuous improvement through regular audits, feedback, and quality assurance processes to sustain at least a Good or Outstanding Ofsted rating.
* Build positive relationships with children, families, local authorities, and partner agencies to ensure the best outcomes for every child.
* Maintain accurate, confidential, and compliant records across all operational areas.
About You
We are looking for a proactive, visionary leader who can balance compassion with compliance, and ambition with accountability.
Registered Manager Essential Requirements:
* Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
* Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Registered Manager in an Ofsted-registered children’s home (EBD or similar).
* Proven track record of achieving at least a ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted rating.
* Deep understanding of The Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards (2015).
* Strong safeguarding knowledge and ability to create robust systems and processes.
* Excellent communication, team-building, and organisational skills.
Desirable:
* Experience supporting children with EBD, trauma, or attachment difficulties.
* Previous involvement in registering or setting up new children’s homes.
