Regulatory Affairs Specialist Salary: Competitive Location: Carlisle (Hybrid) Hours: Full Time, Permanent The Opportunity We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established and highly successful manufacturing business looking to appoint a Regulatory Affairs Specialist. Working as part of a collaborative technical team, you'll play a key role in ensuring products remain compliant with UK and international regulatory requirements while supporting new product development and business growth. The Role You'll be the subject matter expert for Regulatory Affairs, providing practical guidance across the business to ensure products meet all relevant legislative and customer requirements. Working closely with colleagues across Technical, R&D, Production, Procurement and Commercial teams, you'll interpret evolving regulations, assess product compliance and provide solutions that support both compliance and commercial objectives. The business is looking for someone with a naturally analytical mindset who enjoys solving problems. Rather than simply identifying obstacles, you'll be someone who looks for practical, compliant solutions and finds a route to "yes" wherever possible. Key Responsibilities Provide regulatory advice on food contact materials, packaging legislation and wider product compliance. Monitor changes in UK and international regulations, assessing their impact on products and the business. Review supplier documentation and assess the compliance of raw materials and finished products. Prepare Declarations of Compliance, regulatory statements and technical documentation. Respond to customer regulatory and technical enquiries. Support analytical testing by liaising with external laboratories and technical partners. Maintain regulatory records and documentation to support audits and customer requirements. Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance while supporting product innovation. About You To be successful, you'll ideally have: A degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Polymer Science or a related scientific discipline. Previous Regulatory Affairs experience within manufacturing, chemicals, packaging or a similar technical environment. Knowledge of food contact regulations, packaging legislation, REACH or equivalent regulatory frameworks. The ability to interpret complex legislation and apply it in a practical commercial setting. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail. Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and engage with a range of stakeholders. A proactive, solution-focused approach and the confidence to challenge convention in order to achieve the best outcome.
