Job Description

HIRING !! One of my clients are currently recruiting a Rent Officer on a 3month minimum contract with possible further extension, please note that this post requires the successful individual to be based on site 2 days per week. The Role: * To work as part of a team dealing with all aspects of rent accounting, service charges, current and former tenant debt recovery. The post holder will be the principal point of contact for the tenant on rent accounting and debt related issues ensuring all tenants are given help and support in making their tenancies sustainable. * Adopt the Council’s “can’t pay won’t pay” ethos and deal effectively with those tenants who choose not to pay whilst supporting those who tenants who can’t. * To take a proactive approach in tackling former tenant debt and other housing related debts, recommending write off/on any arrears or credit balances on accounts in accordance with the Council’s financial regulations * To prepare and serve Notice of Seeking Possessions, Notice to Quits and attend court hearings and evictions as required. Duties Include but Not Limited to: * Monitor rent accounts to maximise income, through rent collection and arrears recovery * Contact residents via email, text messages, letters and phone calls to discuss rent accounts and payment plans. * Escalate legal action according to the rent and income policy and procedures. * To attend court, case conferences, panels, and other meetings in connection with the service and present relevant up-to-date information so that informed decisions may be taken to resolve the situation.
