A client within the Public Sector based in Wiltshire is currently recruiting for a Repairs Surveyor to join their Housing and Property team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority within a housing/property environment.
The Role The key purpose of the role is to deliver a high-quality, responsive repairs service across the Council’s housing and property portfolio—including approximately 10,500 tenanted homes, 3,000 garages, and 700 corporate/commercial properties.
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Managing and inspecting responsive repairs across domestic and commercial buildings
• Undertaking property surveys and diagnosing building faults
• Raising and managing works orders, including variations and follow-up works
• Supporting neighbourhood officers with technical cases and disrepair claims
• Liaising with contractors, ensuring specifications and H&S standards are met
• Monitoring gas servicing, compliance, and contractor performance
• Surveying and specifying insurance-related repair works (fire, vandalism, flood)
The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require:
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience in building surveying or inspections
• HNC or equivalent qualification in a construction-related field
• A full UK driving licence
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
• Experience with disrepair surveys, damp, and mould investigations
• Knowledge of construction methods, fault diagnosis, and remedial solutions
• Familiarity with housing maintenance in a local government setting
• Understanding of disrepair law, CDM, and Health & Safety legislation
• Strong IT skills (Microsoft Word and Excel)
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £40 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £30 per hour PAYE).
