Research Associate
Are you passionate about plant biology and eager to contribute to innovative horticultural techniques? Our client is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Research Associate to join their dynamic team! This is an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge seed production methods and contribute to a sustainable future.
Key Responsibilities:
Carry out day-to-day production and maintenance of plant and seed materials, ensuring they meet customer requirements with precision.
Highlight problems and challenges promptly to ensure seamless operations.
Work independently and collaboratively on experimental tasks using both established and novel screening methods.
Maintain plants under glasshouse conditions for the duration of testing, ensuring optimal growth and health.
Liaise with the Technical Support Team to deliver exceptional customer support and satisfaction.
Develop your technical knowledge through hands-on experience with a variety of production techniques.
Identify areas for improvement in efficiency and actively engage in problem-solving with team members and supervisors.
Keep accurate records and maintain current databases to track progress and results.
Promote a culture of continuous improvement by contributing to enhancements in screening methods and processes.
Uphold safety standards by maintaining a clean, safe working environment and adhering to all safety procedures and HSE regulations.
Ensure compliance with DEFRA, CBD, QMS, and HSE regulations regarding genetically modified organisms and licenced plant materials.
What You Bring:
A general knowledge of plant biology, with a preference for experience in seed production and horticultural techniques.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office programmes.
Strong analytical, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
Detail-oriented mindset with excellent communication abilities.
Agility in learning new tasks, with a self-starter attitude and a collaborative spirit.
Exceptional self-motivation, self-management, and time management skills.
HND level in Horticulture or at least 2 years of experience in horticulture or seed supply.
