Job Description

Residential Care Practitioner – Derby Location: Children’s Residential Homes across 3 homes Starting Salary: £37,275.89 (increasing after 6-month probation) Are you an experienced childcare professional passionate about shaping young lives? We are looking for 7 Residential Care Practitioners to join our supportive team in Derby, delivering care across three children’s homes. In this role, you will help create a safe, nurturing environment that supports children and young people to thrive. The Role As a Residential Care Practitioner, you’ll work closely with senior colleagues to provide high-quality care to children with emotional, behavioural, or developmental needs. You will: * Deliver safe, structured, and nurturing care for children and young people * Support children in daily routines and activities * Participate in care planning, risk assessments, and team meetings * Attend training and development sessions to enhance your skills * Build positive, trusting relationships that promote emotional wellbeing and independence What We’re Looking For: Minimum 1 year’s experience in children’s residential care or youth work (experience with EBD advantageous) * Relevant childcare qualification (as per regulatory requirements) * Full UK driving licence (essential) * Passion, resilience, and commitment to improving young lives Working Pattern: * Full-time role: 56.5 hours per week (including sleep-ins) * Shift pattern: 08:00 – 23:00 plus sleep-in and 08:00–08:30 handover the following day * 3-week rolling rota, averaging 10 shifts per month * Total monthly hours including training and meetings: approx. 244.5 Benefits: * Competitive salary with progression after probation * Generous annual leave: 360 hours per year * Structured rota offering consistency and work-life balance * Ongoing training and professional development * Opportunity to grow within a supportive and expanding organisation
