We are working with an award-winning Children Care provider in the area of Luton, Bedfordshire. They are looking for a Team Leader to add to their team. The role is full time, permanent.
The Residential Child Care Team Leader will provide quality care for a group of vulnerable children in line with the Home’s statement of purpose and in delivering the Organisation’s aim with emotional & behavioural difficulties within an Ofsted residential home.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
* Working under the direction of the Homes Manager actively contribute to the provision of quality care, within which the health, welfare, education and development of young people is promoted and to promote a coherent ethos of care consistent with the overall of the company and the homes statement of purpose.
* To contribute towards the maintenance of a positive, safe and homely environment, including the promotion of a warm and accepting atmosphere, where the safety and care of young people is paramount. Working with the Homes Manager to ensure proper and appropriate nurturing for all children with particular attention to the provision of primary care in matters of food, health, clothing and environment
* To promote independence, life skills and informed choices in accordance with the individual Support plan and to enhance inclusion in the community. To support young people in developing the ability to reach their full potential
* To support, monitor and safeguard children throughout the 24-hour day and night as directed.
* To work collectively with team members and advise on using effective care practice, de-escalating and diversionary strategies and recognised techniques to manage young people who exhibit challenging, threatening and confrontational behaviour. Consistently act in accordance with company Behaviour Management policy and ensure appropriate recording of incidents.
* To provide formal supervision to individual members of staff as directed by the Team Manager, in line with company policy and the Children’s Home Regulations 2015.
Requirements:
Essential Skills, Knowledge and Experience
* Good Level of Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent From April 2016, it is a requirement to hold a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare within 2 years of your start date.
* Working knowledge of childcare and child development developed through working directly with young people
* Experience of working with children/young people in a residential setting, with emotional/behavioural difficulties
* Hold a current full driving licence and prepared to drive as part of the role
* Able to meet the requirement of the Alternate Week Shift pattern.
