Residential Experience Officer – Exeter Area

Reporting to: Residential Team Lead / Residential Manager
Are you passionate about supporting young people and helping them thrive in a residential setting? Teaching Personnel are seeking a Residential Experience Officer to join a dedicated team providing outstanding care and support for students living on-site in college accommodation.
This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in ensuring that students have a safe, supportive, and positive residential experience while developing their independence and wellbeing.
The Role
As a Residential Experience Officer, you will:
Support the care, welfare, and personal development of residential students, ensuring compliance with Minimum Care Standards and safeguarding procedures.
Provide cover across daytime, evening, night, and weekend shifts, ensuring a secure and welcoming environment.
Lead and support a range of social, cultural, sporting, and recreational enrichment activities, ensuring all students can get involved.
Encourage students to build independent living skills, resilience, and self-esteem, while promoting positive behaviour and personal growth.
Offer pastoral support and safeguarding interventions, working closely with students, parents, carers, and staff.
Foster a respectful and inclusive community where students feel valued and supported.
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking an enthusiastic and caring individual who:
Has excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage young people from diverse backgrounds.
Holds a full clean driving licence and a good standard of education (including English and maths).
Holds or is willing to gain a Safeguarding qualification and First Aid certificate.
Is proactive, reliable, and able to use their initiative when supporting students.
Demonstrates a strong commitment to safeguarding, equality, and professional development.
Desirable (but not essential):
Previous experience in a residential, care, or educational setting.
Training in Passive Intervention and Prevention (or similar).
Ability to drive a minibus (MIDAS).
Awareness of Minimum Care Standards and safeguarding frameworks.

Hours: Full-time, including evenings and weekends on a rota basis
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
