Support Worker – Residential Children’s Home Location: Ashbourne Salary: Up to £26,150 Are you passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of children with learning disabilities? We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join a Residential Children’s Home that provides care and support for children with learning disabilities. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to make a real difference and contribute to the emotional, social, and personal development of young people. About the Role As a Support Worker, you will play a key role in helping children with learning disabilities lead fulfilling and independent lives. You will assist in their day-to-day activities, personal care, and emotional development, all while ensuring they are safe, supported, and valued. Working as part of a close-knit team, you will help create a nurturing environment that encourages growth and independence. Key Responsibilities * Provide direct care and support to children, ensuring their safety, dignity, and well-being are maintained. * Assist with personal care tasks such as hygiene, dressing, and feeding. * Support children in educational and recreational activities both in the home and the community, promoting social inclusion. * Build positive, trusting relationships to help with emotional development and self-confidence. * Develop and implement individual care plans, supporting children in their growth, learning, and independence. * Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and external professionals to ensure holistic care. * Maintain a clean, safe, and nurturing environment within the home. * Monitor progress, document behaviours, and note any changes in care needs. * Use de-escalation techniques and positive reinforcement to manage behaviours. * Safeguard the young people in your care, adhering to company policies and procedures. Qualifications and Skills * Previous experience working with children, particularly those with learning disabilities or additional needs, is desirable. * A Diploma Level 4 in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) or equivalent is advantageous but not essential. * Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with children and work within a team. * A caring, patient, and empathetic attitude with a commitment to the well-being of children with learning disabilities. * Ability to manage challenging behaviours in a professional, calm, and positive way. * Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays (sleep-in duties included). * A full driving licence with business insurance is required.
