About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Revenues & Benefits Compliance Officer to join our fully remote team. You will ensure that all reductions, discounts, and exemptions for Council Tax, Business Rates, and Benefits are granted correctly, and where incorrect, removed or reduced in line with legislation and policy. You will also impose penalties when necessary, protecting public funds and ensuring compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Review all reductions, discounts, and exemptions to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Remove or reduce incorrect reductions and impose penalties in accordance with policy and law.
Manage day-to-day Council Tax billing and benefits processes to promote efficiency.
Monitor and inspect accounts to protect the collection fund and ensure continuous compliance.
Ensure changes in circumstances are reported within statutory timescales to allow accurate billing.
Maintain accurate records, update IT systems, and issue demands and notices promptly.
Stay updated on legislation and policies related to Council Tax, Housing Benefits, and Local Council Tax Support.
Liaise with internal teams and external partners as needed.

Be prepared to provide factual evidence in courts or tribunals if required.
What We're Looking For
Strong understanding of Council Tax, Business Rates, and Benefits legislation.
Experience in revenues and benefits compliance or administration is desirable.
Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
Ability to work independently and efficiently in a remote environment.
Effective communication skills for internal and external collaboration.
Commitment to accuracy, compliance, and excellent service delivery.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
