Job Description
Job Title: Road Freight Forwarder
Location: Cramlington
Salary: up to £40,000
Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Road Freight Forwarder to support the coordination of UK and European road freight movements. This role will focus heavily on customs documentation, compliance, and ensuring the smooth transit of goods across borders.
You will be responsible for managing full-cycle road freight operations, from planning and documentation through to delivery, working closely with drivers, customers, and logistics partners. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing operation and play a key role in international road freight movements.
Key Responsibilities
*
Plan and coordinate UK and European road freight shipments (import & export)
*
Prepare and manage all relevant road freight and customs documentation
*
Complete and support customs declarations, ensuring full compliance with UK and international regulations
*
Maintain accurate and timely data entry across freight and customs systems
*
Liaise with drivers, hauliers, customers, and customs agents to ensure smooth operations
*
Track and monitor shipments, providing proactive updates to customers
*
Verify documentation including commercial invoices, packing lists, CMRs, and transport paperwork
*
Troubleshoot delays or issues relating to customs clearance or transport
*
Support the wider operations team with general freight forwarding activities
Requirements
*
Previous experience in road freight forwarding or European transport operations
*
Strong understanding of customs processes and import/export documentation (highly desirable)
*
Experience handling groupage, full loads, or part loads across UK/EU routes
*
Excellent attention to detail and high level of data accuracy
*
Strong communication and organisational skills
*
Ability to work in a fast-paced, time-critical logistics environment
