Job Description

A client within the Public Sector based in the East Midlands is currently recruiting for a Rural Estate Manager to join their Property team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full time, temporary position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority within a rural estate management environment. The Role Key purpose of the role is to lead a team of professional rural surveyors and oversee the management of the Council’s extensive 14,000-hectare rural estate, ensuring best value, legal compliance, environmental responsibility, and strategic asset performance. Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to: • Managing the operational and strategic delivery of the Council’s rural estate portfolio • Leading on landlord and tenant matters, maintenance, capital programmes, and environmental projects • Providing expert advice to senior stakeholders, auditors, Members, and external partners • Developing and delivering the Rural Asset Management Strategy and farm management plans • Maximising revenue income, ensuring rent collection, and meeting capital receipt and climate change targets • Identifying development opportunities to support financial and community outcomes • Managing specialist advisors and leading complex acquisitions, disposals, and negotiations • Ensuring accurate property records and GIS systems are maintained The Candidate To be considered for this role you will require: • A degree in Rural Land Management or a similar discipline • Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) • Extensive post-qualification experience managing large rural estates • Proven ability to manage teams and lead estate strategy and transformation The below skills would be beneficial for the role: • Registered RICS Valuer status • Experience working with public sector agricultural assets • Strong leadership, communication, and influencing skills • Understanding of planning policy, rural valuations, and capital budgeting • Experience in business development and stakeholder engagement • Proficiency in GIS, databases, and standard IT packages The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £500 per day Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £400 per day PAYE).
