Job Description

Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) * Lead and coordinate all safeguarding and child protection procedures * Manage referrals, liaise with social care, police, and external agencies * Maintain accurate, secure safeguarding records * Provide training, guidance, and support to staff on safeguarding best practice * Promote a culture of pupil voice, welfare, and wellbeing * Lead on attendance strategy, reducing persistent and severe absence * Analyse attendance data and implement effective interventions * Build strong relationships with families to remove barriers to attendance * Oversee safeguarding for pupils in Alternative Provision, including regular visits * Line manage the Safeguarding and Attendance Officer * Collaborate with senior leaders, governors, and external professionals * Deliver and coordinate staff training on safeguarding, attendance, and online safety About You * Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation and multi-agency processes * Experience leading safeguarding or pastoral work in an education or care setting * Excellent communication and relationship-building skills * Confident handling sensitive information and decision-making * Organised, calm under pressure, and solution-focused
