Job Title: Sales & Estimating Engineer
Salary: £35,000 – £45,000 (Depending on Experience)
Location: Cambridge (Driving license and own vehicle preferred)

Our client, a leading machinery manufacturer, is seeking an experienced Sales & Estimating Engineer to join their growing Sales Team, supporting projects that deliver innovative processing systems to clients worldwide.
The Opportunity
This is a key sales-engineering role where you’ll prepare detailed cost estimates and quotations for both standard and bespoke machinery. You’ll act as the link between engineering, projects, and customers, ensuring pricing accuracy, clarity, and competitiveness across all proposals.
Working closely with senior management, you’ll also help refine the estimating and quotation process, improving efficiency and supporting the company’s continued growth in the manufacturing sector.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Prepare detailed sales quotations and cost estimates for equipment, systems, and installations using structured templates and Excel.
* Develop competitive pricing strategies for bespoke projects and service support.
* Source and include relevant third-party or group-supplied components where required.
* Maintain quotation data in internal databases and manage entries via CRM software.
* Review and improve estimating and quotation workflows, identifying tools and software to enhance accuracy and response time.
* Handle incoming sales enquiries, providing timely, professional responses and liaising across departments as needed.
* Raise internal sales orders from customer purchase orders and communicate details to Accounts and Projects teams.
* Support Sales Managers with proposal documentation, pricing updates, and client follow-ups.
* Provide clients with information on product specifications, lead times, and commercial terms.
What You’ll Need
Must-Haves:
* Proven experience in estimating, quotations, or sales engineering within a manufacturing or machinery environment.
* Strong technical understanding, able to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
* Advanced skills in MS Excel, Word, Outlook, and familiarity with databases.
* Experience using CRM systems.
* Excellent communication skills, comfortable working with all levels from workshop to senior management and clients.
Nice to Have (or Willing to Learn):
* Background in engineering or automated systems.
* Experience identifying or implementing proposal/quotation software.
* Proactive, process-driven mindset with strong attention to detail.
