Job Description

A Sales Executive is required in Newcastle to drive new business and grow a portfolio of trade customers. Working from the office, the Senior Internal Sales Executive will identify opportunities with installers, contractors, merchants and other trade customers across heating, plumbing, HVAC and boiler spares. You will combine proactive outbound sales activity with structured account management to increase revenue, protect margin and strengthen customer loyalty. The role will involve understanding customer requirements, preparing quotations, following up opportunities and coordinating with purchasing, warehouse and customer service colleagues. This position would suit an ambitious sector sales professional who enjoys winning business and building lasting commercial relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  * 

    Generate new business through proactive outbound calls, emails and targeted account development.

  * 

    Manage and develop existing accounts to increase order frequency, average value and customer retention.

  * 

    Build trusted relationships with heating engineers, plumbing contractors, installers, merchants and other trade customers.

  * 

    Identify customer requirements and recommend suitable heating, plumbing, HVAC and boiler spare products.

  * 

    Prepare accurate quotations, negotiate commercially and convert opportunities into profitable orders.

  * 

    Follow up enquiries, dormant accounts and open quotations to maximise sales conversion.

  * 

    Meet or exceed agreed sales, gross margin and activity targets.

  * 

    Maintain accurate customer records, sales notes and pipeline information within the CRM system.

  * 

    Work closely with purchasing, warehouse and customer service teams to ensure reliable order fulfilment.

  * 

    Monitor market activity, competitor pricing and customer feedback to identify new revenue opportunities.

Experience & Skills Required

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following:

  * 

    Demonstrate proven internal sales, telesales or trade counter sales experience within the heating, plumbing, HVAC, boiler spares or merchant sector.

  * 

    Possess strong new business development and account management skills.

  * 

    Understand products and terminology used by heating engineers, plumbers, installers and trade customers.

  * 

    Build rapport quickly and communicate confidently by telephone, email and face to face.

  * 

    Convert enquiries into orders through effective questioning, product matching and commercial follow-up.

  * 

    Negotiate pricing while protecting margin and maintaining long-term customer relationships.

  * 

    Manage a busy pipeline, prioritise opportunities and follow through on commitments.

  * 

    Use CRM, quotation or order processing systems accurately and consistently.

  * 

    Work independently while contributing positively to a close-knit office-based sales team.

  * 

    Demonstrate a target-driven approach with the resilience and motivation to succeed in a competitive market.

  * 

    Show strong numeracy, attention to detail and commercial awareness.
