Job Description

Role Summary

The Sales & Tendering Engineer will lead the commercial direction of the Transformer Services Department by combining strong engineering knowledge with commercial awareness.

The role involves technical sales leadership, site surveying, proposal preparation, and ensuring seamless project handover to delivery teams, while maintaining compliance with company standards and achieving high levels of customer satisfaction.

The post holder will:

  * 

    Operate in full compliance with company and customer Health & Safety requirements.

  * 

    Support sustainable commercial growth of Transformer Services.

  * 

    Maintain high standards of professionalism and client satisfaction.

Main Responsibilities

  * 

    Lead the sales function within Transformer Services.

  * 

    Combine engineering expertise with commercial strategy to drive growth.

  * 

    Act as the operational and commercial link during enquiry and tender stages.

  * 

    Prepare and submit proposals and tenders within customer deadlines.

  * 

    Support the wider Sales Team with installation-related costing.

  * 

    Promote the full range of transformer services.

  * 

    Conduct sales presentations and provide progress and forecast updates.

Technical & Engineering Responsibilities

  * 

    Conduct detailed UK-wide site surveys to accurately scope works.

  * 

    Produce comprehensive site survey reports to build customer confidence.

  * 

    Engineer solutions by specifying materials, components, and services.

  * 

    Develop Bills of Materials (BOMs) and cost estimates.

  * 

    Ensure solutions are compliant, technically sound, and cost-effective.

  * 

    Interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.

Qualifications & Skills

Qualifications (Preferred)

  * 

    HNC or Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.

  * 

    Apprenticeship background with significant industry experience.

Experience (Required)

  * 

    Minimum 5+ years’ engineering service sales experience.

  * 

    Proven track record in service sales, proposals, or applications engineering.

Technical Knowledge

  * 

    Strong understanding of grid and power transformers.

  * 

    Knowledge of installation, refurbishment, and retrofit of transformer components.

  * 

    Ability to interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.

  * 

    Experience building BOMs and preparing cost estimates
