Proactive Personnel is recruiting on behalf of our client - a highly reputable and expanding business based in Shrewsbury. With a strong presence in the UK metals industry, they are now looking to add a motivated and experienced Saw Operator to their warehouse team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a background in operating industrial saws, forklift trucks, and working in a busy warehouse environment. If you’re looking for a long-term position with excellent benefits and progression opportunities, this could be the role for you!
Key Responsibilities:
* Operate and set up sawing equipment to cut aluminium and stainless steel
* Read and interpret technical drawings, work orders, and blueprints
* Adjust saw settings and material positioning for precision cutting
* Conduct routine maintenance and minor troubleshooting
* Inspect finished cuts to ensure accuracy and quality standards
* Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment
* Work effectively with your team to meet production targets
* Track and manage consumables inventory
* Comply with all health and safety procedures
Requirements:
* Previous experience as a Saw Operator (or similar machinery-based role)
* Skilled in operating saws and reading technical documentation
* Counterbalance and Reach Forklift Truck experience is essential
* Physically fit and able to handle heavy materials
* Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
* Willingness to work rotating shifts (early and late)
Shift Pattern (2-Week Rotation):
* Weeks 1 & 2: Monday to Friday, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM
* Weeks 3 & 4: Monday to Thursday, 12:00 PM - 10:30 PM
(Each shift includes a 30-minute unpaid break)
Benefits:
* Competitive hourly rate: £13.00 - £13.50 (depending on experience)
* Quarterly profit-related bonus (after qualifying period)
* £100 quarterly attendance bonus for 100% attendance
