GSL Education is currently seeking a number of School Attendance Officers to join our client schools in Brent. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to manage and oversee attendance in a dynamic and inclusive school setting.
Responsibilities: As the School Attendance Officer, your key responsibilities will include:
Managing Admissions Process: Overseeing all aspects of the student admissions process, including initial inquiries, applications, and offers of places.
Attendance Monitoring: Ensuring accurate recording, monitoring, and reporting of student attendance data in line with school policies.
Liaising with Families and External Agencies: Communicating with parents and guardians regarding admissions and attendance matters, ensuring compliance with government policies and procedures.
Data Analysis: Providing detailed reports on attendance patterns and trends, including managing and reporting persistent absenteeism.
Policy Development: Assisting in the development and implementation of admissions and attendance policies to ensure the school meets all statutory requirements.
Collaborating with School Staff: Working closely with teachers, senior leadership, and administrative staff to support student admissions and attendance processes.
Providing Guidance: Offering guidance and training to staff regarding attendance policies and ensuring all systems are up to date.
Ensuring Safeguarding Compliance: Ensuring that all student data is handled in accordance with safeguarding and data protection guidelines.
Candidate Requirements: To be successful as School Attendance Officer, you should possess:
Experience working in an admissions or attendance role, ideally within an educational setting.
Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with parents, staff, and external agencies.
Proficiency in using school management systems and attendance software.
A solid understanding of safeguarding and data protection regulations.
A proactive and professional approach, with attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
A commitment to supporting the school community and improving student outcomes.
Must hold an enhanced, Child Only DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
