School Effectiveness Primary Adviser  London Local Authority Permanent | Term-Time Only | Hybrid Working Salary: £64,938 – £68,460 pro rata Hours: 36 hours per week Location: London (Local Authority office & schools) DBS: Enhanced Overview This is a fantastic opportunity to take a leading role in school improvement within a forward-thinking, proactive London Local Authority, home to some of the highest performing primary schools in the country. As School Effectiveness Primary Adviser, you will work closely with schools, leaders, and key partners to promote inclusive practice, enhance educational outcomes, and support schools in delivering consistently high standards across the primary phase. The role sits within the School Effectiveness Service and is key to the Local Authority’s commitment to educational excellence, strong leadership, and collaborative practice across its schools. The borough is renowned for its outstanding schools and high national performance, providing an environment where innovation, ambition, and impact are both valued and encouraged. We are looking for an experienced and ambitious school leader with a proven track record of impact. You will bring strategic insight, deep knowledge of primary education, strong partnership skills, and the credibility to advise, challenge, and support schools to achieve their full potential. This is a term-time only role. While hybrid working is supported, the position is predominantly school-facing and office-based. Key Responsibilities Provide high-quality school improvement advice, challenge and support to primary schools. Champion inclusive practice and excellence in teaching, learning and leadership. Lead communications across schools and early years settings, including newsletters, updates and website content. Coordinate and oversee professional development networks, CPD programmes and key education events. Build strong professional relationships with Headteachers, governors and strategic partners. Contribute to performance monitoring, including data analysis, school visits and reporting. Support the Local Authority's statutory duties in relation to standards, safeguarding, inclusion and school performance. Lead and contribute to key education initiatives, including school partnerships, cultural and curriculum networks and strategic innovation projects. Develop traded services opportunities and support income generation activity. Produce high-quality reports and present confidently to senior leaders, governors and external stakeholders. Maintain strong oversight of budgets, financial processes and contract arrangements. Model exemplary safeguarding practice and contribute to Headteacher performance processes where required. Stay informed on national policy, curriculum and Ofsted developments to ensure practice remains current and forward-looking. Requirements: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) Significant successful senior leadership experience (Assistant/Deputy Headteacher or Headteacher) Strong knowledge of school improvement frameworks and the primary phase Proven ability to analyse complex school performance data and act on findings Excellent communication, interpersonal and influencing skills Experience delivering CPD and supporting leadership development Confidence working with governance and senior education stakeholders Strong organisational and time-management skills, and the ability to work independently Credibility, integrity and a commitment to high standards and inclusive practice Desirable: Ofsted training / accreditation Enhanced DBS check will be required.
