Are you an experienced finance professional looking for an opportunity to work within an education setting? We are currently recruiting for a School Finance Manager to join a school in Northampton, supporting the effective management and day-to-day running of the school's financial operations.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an organised and experienced finance professional who can take ownership of financial processes while working closely with the school's leadership and administrative teams.
The Role
As School Finance Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the school's financial administration and ensuring that financial processes are accurate, efficient and compliant with relevant procedures.
Your responsibilities may include:
Managing the school's day-to-day financial administration
Monitoring income and expenditure and maintaining accurate financial records
Supporting the preparation and monitoring of school budgets
Processing invoices, purchase orders and payments
Monitoring outstanding payments and liaising with suppliers where required
Managing payroll-related administration and ensuring information is accurate and submitted on time
Producing financial reports and providing information to senior leaders
Supporting budget holders with financial planning and monitoring
Reconciling accounts and investigating discrepancies
Maintaining accurate records and ensuring appropriate financial controls are followed
Supporting audits and providing financial documentation when required
Working alongside the school's leadership and administrative teams to ensure effective financial management
Ensuring confidentiality when dealing with sensitive financial and staff information
About You
We are looking for someone who is highly organised, financially knowledgeable and confident working independently. Previous experience within a school or education environment would be advantageous, although strong finance experience from another setting will also be considered.
The successful candidate will ideally have:
Previous experience in a finance or accounts role
Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
Good knowledge of financial administration and budget monitoring
Confidence using financial systems and Microsoft Office
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
A professional and confidential approach
The ability to work effectively with senior leaders, colleagues and external suppliers
Previous experience working within a school, academy or education setting would be desirableYou will play an important role in ensuring the school has robust financial processes in place and that budgets and expenditure are managed effectively. The successful candidate will be someone who takes pride in their work, is proactive in identifying issues and can provide reliable financial support to the wider school team.
