School Kitchen Manager
Salary: £27,711 - £32,654 (full-time equivalent, pro rata depending on experience)
Hours: 35 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (term time + 1 week)
Working Hours: 7:00am – 2:00pm, Monday to Friday
Are you a passionate and experienced kitchen leader looking to make a real impact? Wise Employment are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic School Kitchen Manager to join a fantastic school in Paignton, managing a team of 4. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in the health and wellbeing of young children by providing healthy, high-quality meals every school day.
School Kitchen Manager Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the preparation, cooking, and serving of meals (up to 300 meals per day)
Plan menus and order food and supplies in line with budget and school policies
Responsible for working with specific dietary requirements and food allergies
Manage kitchen staff, including training, rotas, and performance
Maintain high standards of food hygiene, health and safety, and cleanliness
Keep accurate records of stock, cash handling, and kitchen operations
Work closely with the School Business Manager and Headteacher to ensure smooth running of the catering service
What We’re Looking For:
Experience managing a kitchen or catering operation
Strong leadership and communication skills
Knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations (Level 2 or 3 Food Hygiene Certificate preferred)
Preferably a Level 3 First Aid qualification
Organised, reliable, and able to work under pressure
Experience of budgeting
